Albert Letting

Senior Policy Advisor, Sustainable Finance

Albert Letting is a senior policy advisor for sustainable finance with IISD’s Economic Law and Policy program. His work covers policy development and research across a wide range of sustainable finance topics, with a particular focus on the development of Sustainable Asset Valuation assessments for the Scaling Urban Nature-Based Solutions for Climate Adaptation in Sub-Saharan Africa project. Albert also spearheads the development of financing solutions for nature-based infrastructure with the Nature-Based Infrastructure Global Resource Centre, through modelling and crafting investable climate-resilient infrastructure.

An investor with over 10 years of experience in scaling African businesses through impact investing, Albert has a strong background in all aspects of the deal life cycle,: financial analysis, deal structuring, valuation, and portfolio management for equity and structured debt transactions.

Before joining IISD, Albert was an investment associate at the Soros Economic Development Fund, a Carbon Fellow at CLASP, and worked for several impact investment funds focused on private finance for early stage and growth companies based in East Africa. He has worked with companies in various sectors, including renewable energy, financial services, agribusiness, technology, infrastructure, light manufacturing, and health care.

Albert holds a bachelor's degree in financial economics from Strathmore University, Kenya and a master’s degree in finance and investment from the University of Witwatersrand, South Africa. Based in Nairobi, Kenya, Albert is fluent in English and Swahili.
